Subaru WRX competitors' 0-60

Do you want to earn a few bragging rights? It's simple. Simply test your Subaru WRX accelerations time, of course, in a hands-free as well as fully automated way. What's more, post the WRX 0-60 time to your leaderboard.

The leaderboard will feature accuracy to the millisecond and display your position in comparison to other users in real time. Also, it'll save for you lots of acceleration times from various models.

The Subaru Impreza rocked the headlines in 2017, by switching to the new Subaru Global Platform, with an improved engine. However, the Subaru WRX keeps faith in the old platform, with less "high-strength-steel-intensive bones" still in place with little additions in 2018.

Although the WRX can make people wow and may become the car of the future, the present model is an excellent choice for those in the market for small sports toys. It is charming and elegant, only in the world of its own.

0-60 mph: progress and competitors

It is surprising, but the 2018 WRX hits 0-60 mph slower than you might be expecting. It attains 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, lagging behind the 2015 WRX models that were tested (2015 WRX attains 60 mph in less than 6 seconds, quite an impressive time).

However, the 2018 model is not all bad; its quarter-mile was in place with the fourth generation brands of cars, which were tested earlier. It is worthy to note that 2018 WRX performance brake is impressive at 14.5 seconds at 94.2 mph, it's consistent, providing consistent stop from 60 to 0 mph (needing 113 feet), even on the eighth figure, the braking is fade free.

Specs of the Engine

WRX cruises in " standard turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four engine" with an impressive 268 horsepower, the torque of 258 lb-ft, an all-wheel drive to make it distinct, the 2018 WRX launches in a big way, just like the rocket.

Powered by a regular six-speed manual transmission. The Limited and Premium models are equipped with the variable automatic transmission (known as CVT), although i is optional.

On the track, the massive WRX engine is quite impressive, but it is not the same story in day-to-day use as its struggles to make a good mark. It has considerable turbo lag, with a jerky engine power delivery.

Powered by six-speed manual transmission, Subaru WRX models gain from a unique pedal setup tailor-made for downshifting in an all-wheel-drive system.

Something worth noting is the viscous differential, which assigns power equally between the rear and front axles, to detect the wheel slip.

The exterior

Subaru claims the WRX comes with an improved interior; however, the modifications are not good enough to impress most users. Apart from the fact that the doors are very light, it also closes with a hollow sound.

The door panels and dash are soft and quite good, the red stitching applied throughout the cabin is lovely. However, most of the plastics used in the interior look cheap.

The design of the radio volume and tuning knobs with aluminum is cool, but they don't offer enough grip.

The verdict

Until the arrival of the next-gen car, Subaru WRX offers old-school all-wheel adventure, with some improvements along with the fun.

No one is certain what it will be like to change to the Impreza platform, but WRX  can lead the way.
