On the PE-VPS Engine page it states that Mazda3(2014-2022), and Mazda CX-5(2013-2016) models are capable of engine interchange. Does that include the PY-VPS Engines for those respected models? If not, what are the major differences?

Well hello! PE-VPS is a 2.0 liter inline-4 naturally aspirated engine, while the PY-VPS has a displacement of 2.5 liters and is also naturally aspirated. Both of these engines were installed in the Mazda 3 as well as the Mazda CX-5. These engines are interchangeable - the engine from the Mazda 3 (2012-present) will fit the Mazda CX-5 (2013-present) and vice versa. However, it is important to remember that you should pick motors with the same displacement. If you want to replace your PE-VPS with the more powerful PY-VPS, you'll need to make some modifications to the vehicle - probably even changing the transmission.
