Founded in 1994 as a microcar producer, smart marketed their first vehicle in 1998. Developed in collaboration with Daimler, first smart car was powered by Daimler produced engines and it features a few parts associated with larger Mercedes vehicles. The trend is continued to date! Besides producing microcars, smart introduced a small city car, small coupe and an electric vehicle. As it is subsidiary of Daimler AG, smart is marketed in every major car market including US, Canada and Australia. Constructed for specific use in cities, smart vehicles are regarded as the exotic solution for congested city centers.
