30 minutes’ worth of charging using Tesla’s Supercharger charging network adds 137 miles of range to the Model 3. In addition, the car can absorb as much as 37 miles per hour when charged with the recommended NEMA 14-50 cord adapter or the higher capacity Level 2 40-amp home charger. This is of course, when it’s backed by a 50-amp, 240-volt electrical service.

Similar to the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4, the Tesla Model 3 measures 72.8 inches wide, 184.8 inches long and 56.8 inches high. There are about 15 cubic feet of cargo space at the back, making it a typical entry-level luxury car when it comes to offering luggage space.

The Model 3 comes in two versions: the base model and the upgraded long-range model. The former starts at $35,000 and is rated at 220 miles in range. It, however, isn’t available until sometime in 2018. The latter is the only 3 available for 2017 and gets from 0 to 60mph in 5.1 seconds. It’s rated at 310 miles and can top out at 140mph. At its initial launch, the upgraded long-range version will feature extra properties that may raise the price to $50,000.

The Model 3 features a design similar to that of the Models S and X. The interior has a 15-inch touchscreen display at the center console. All functions are monitored and controlled from here as there is no presence of a traditional instrument cluster. The 3 doesn’t harbor lots of high-performance features, but to any automotive enthusiast, it definitely fills that gap. There’s, however, room for improvement as its grip and understeer are a bit dramatic. Also, the steering wheel could be modified to provide more information to the driver, especially about grip levels at the front wheels.

The Tesla Model 3 is the only quick and affordable EV on the market today. The user interface makes it a one-of-a-kind. It’s also quite fun to drive as it offers responsive acceleration and a quiet ride. However, the user interface does feature some serious flaws, and for anyone wishing to own this car, it is advisable to first borrow or lease one in order to familiarize yourself with its systems.
