Introduction

The ram is still our favorite light-duty pickup even though the 2018 Ram 1500 is one of the oldest designs in the segment. The 2019 Ram 1500 continuously improves on the former generation’s performance on the track despite the carryover powertrain. This is due to the crash diet Ram engineers put the new 1500 on. The new Ram goes from 0 to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds and made 1/4 mile in 14.7 seconds at 93.7 mph, unlike the identically specced 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 tested a few years back which weighs 328 pounds more.

Compared to the old Ram which needed 7.0 seconds to hit 0-60 mph and 15.5 seconds to pass the quarter-mile point at 87.7 mph, this is a notable improvement.

Braking and fuel efficiency are the only measurable places the new Ram doesn’t improve on. 2019 1500 Laramie ties the 2013 1500 Laramie's 122-foot 60-0 brake performance as well as matching its 15/21/17 mpg city/highway/combined EPA rating.

Exterior & interior 

Thanks to lighter steel and aluminum components the truck is lighter than the outgoing model by 225 pounds.
