Do you want to earn a few bragging rights? It's simple. Simply test your Lamborghini Aventador accelerations time, of course, in a hands-free as well as fully automated way. What's more, post the Aventador 0-60 time to your leaderboard.
The leaderboard will feature accuracy to the millisecond and display your position in comparison to other users in real time. Also, it'll save for you lots of acceleration times from various models.
For an ultra-modern supercar, Italian automaker Lamborghini makes sure that the Aventador is a force to reckon with. It’s equipped with a large, brute and hot-tempered 6.5-liter engine, suspensions that trace their origin from Formula 1 and is built with super-tough carbon composite.
The latest model is greatly superior, offering fast-car lovers a modern, user-friendly and decent driving. This is thanks to sturdy switchgear that adds to the overall quality.
The Aventador is quite alert on the circuit. On a rainy day, the 730bhp gives the driver one hell of a challenge no matter how he/she tries to cut it. The tires are also quite reliable, as Lamborghini has collaborated with Pirelli to build custom-made P Zeros for the car.
On a wet day, you’ll have the vehicle understeer and most probably hear a lot of noise from the tires as they grumble. This is, however, not a bad thing as the car is predictable, giving you a hint of what it’s up to so that you can act on it. For example, a sliding front end could easily have the car tighten its line once the driver backs off the throttle.
The Aventador S comes with a variable steering track which is assisted and balanced by the rear steering wheel. It distributes its 1,575 kgs proportionately with the actual kerb weight probably hitting 1,700 kgs.
The vehicle behaves according to the driving mode preferred. The Strada (Street) mode has a not-very-alert engine and slow shifting gears. On the other hand, the Sport mode is appropriate for driving on wet roads and channels about 90% of torque to the rear. The Corsa Mode is built for fast laps and offers a ferocious drive with fierce gear change. It directs about 80% of the torque aft. Lamborghini has equipped the latest Aventador with a new mode, Ego, which lets you configure the steering, drivetrain, and suspension to your liking.
This automaker has retained the seven-speed sequential manual ISR gearbox in the S. It comes tweaked with a few improvements. It’s also lighter with noticeably slower but vicious shifts. These can, however, be smoothened out to build more character. Compared to the Ferrari 488 or Audi R8, it does feel somewhat less capable.
The V12 engine on this attractive beast offers wild excesses. It’s a howling, mesmeric and an unstoppable force. The new S comes with an extra 40bph which enables it to hit 62mph in 2.9 seconds, 124mph in 8.8 seconds and 186mph in 24.2 seconds. It is interesting to notice that the McLaren 570S and Ferrari 488 GTB do a better job at this. They are all equipped with the same pleasantly noisy engine that boasts of up to 8,500rpm.
The Lamborghini interior will always remind you why you’re paying so much for it. It retains its premium cabin which is accessed through Lamborghini’s trademark scissor-doors. Most of the switchgear was built by Audi and the dashboard can be configured to show revs or speeds. The boot space can only fit a few small bags with the cabin not offering much space either.
The latest Aventador is on a whole other level. With the additional 4WS, it’s more than just the one-dimensional pantomime villain it used to be. It offers more cohesion and feels more agile and sharper thanks to the retuned steering and reprogrammed suspension. Despite the extra weight, understeer, and disappointing gearbox, fast drives are now more exciting, manageable and controllable. The price is definitely worth it, as Lamborghini offers us something that’s not unique, but also attractive and fun to own.
