Do you want to earn a few bragging rights? It's simple. Simply test your FIAT 500 accelerations time, of course, in a hands-free as well as fully automated way. What's more, post the 500 0-60 time to your leaderboard.

The leaderboard will feature accuracy to the millisecond and display your position in comparison to other users in real time. Also, it'll save for you lots of acceleration times from various models.

The Fiat 500 is the type of car that lightens up your garage. It’s available as a ragtop convertible or coupe, with a spunky-like body kit that harbors a 1.4-litre turbo four engine that can churn up to 135 hp. Those who love to shift for themselves can go with the five-speed manual, while those that prefer to have it done for them can have the optional six-speed automatic. In addition, round digital screen lights, 16-inch wheels and a 5.0-inch infotainment touchscreen on the dash make the 500 more glamorous than ever.

Fiat got rid of the older 1.2-litre engine. It was old, and can hardly push the current 500. The new turbocharged 0.9 unveils a good amount of torque that corresponds well with each shift. It’s available with either 85 or 105 bhp. There’s, however, little to no difference between the two as they both equally keep up with the 100g/km CO2 limit. The lower gears allow the driver to clatter fast at low 6000 rpm. The 500 has good fuel economy. Fiat estimates the car to hit about 68.9mpg in normal driving. The numbers plunge to 40 when turbo is engaged.

The mid-range 500 built between 2013 and 2016 had one particular version of the MultiAir engine that currently offers an upgrade to the 101 hp in the discontinued 1.4-litre. It adds 34 horses on top. The 201 Turbo revealed model takes 8.1 seconds to get to 60 mph. This is 1.7 seconds faster than its 2017 500C non-boosted successor. It’s available as a standard five-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic.

Complementing the work put into all 500 models are upgraded brakes, sportier suspensions and 16-inch wheels that were only available in the Turbo lineup. The exterior gets a rear spoiler, “Turbo” badge, fog lights, backup camera and a body kit. The interior remains mostly unchanged. The 500 now comes in three colors: Mezzanotte Blue Pearl, Vesuvio Black Pearl and Brilliante Red.

For space, you’d be advised to go for the Fiat Panda. The 500 looks more of a two-seater with lots of cargo space. Using the rear seats for passengers and the trunk space for luggage would have you realize how limited this vehicle is. However, this particular car wasn’t built for practicality.

Not much is done to style it up. There are glossy boiled buttons that complement the decent screen at the center console. Anything away from that just looks and feels cheap. The steering wheel doesn’t pull any further from the dash. The seats feel like they have towels stuffed in them. The storage is low and shallow, and will only have your cups flying away at the slightest corner. The off-clutch is so small it appears as if it was built for just two of your toes.

Despite the touchscreen being fussy, it is easy-to-use and responsive. The speakers and Uconnect touchscreen information system are good enough to keep away the road noise at high speeds. This in addition to USB, Bluetooth, DAB and sat nav puts a smile on anyone who doesn’t want much in a car.

The 500 comes into the market to rival the Mini Hardtop. It’s a decent car with Italian charm and character. It can be customized widely to feature extra interior and exterior accessories and colors. It maintains a modern design despite being 10 years old already.
