Do you want to earn a few bragging rights? It's simple. Simply test your Chevrolet S-10 accelerations time, of course, in a hands-free as well as fully automated way. What's more, post the S-10 0-60 time to your leaderboard.
The leaderboard will feature accuracy to the millisecond and display your position in comparison to other users in real time. Also, it'll save for you lots of acceleration times from various models.
Year after year, new vehicles and trims come out to the market and drivers look for the one that best fits their needs and interests. However, this doesn’t mean that the perfect utilitarian for you is waiting at a 0km dealer’s, but rather, perhaps you can find your best batch shopping around second-hand trucks or SUVs. Not only are they far cheaper than high-end new vehicles, but also, some of the models of the past not so long ago are still completely serviceable and ideal for performing your duties.
This might very well be the case of the Chevrolet S-10, America’s response to the massive import of Japanese models that were owning the truck market back in the 80’s. Even if the last trim went out of production over ten years ago, you can still find some models around there that are perfectly suitable for you – if you are okay with the relative disadvantages of an out-of-date utilitarian.
The base engine for the Chevrolet S-10 was a 2.2-liter that put out 118 hp, then the 4.3-liter V-6 upgrade pulls out 165hp, and at the top of the game, the 4.3-liter Vortec delivered 195hp. The transmission was either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. These figures might not look impressive now, but back then, they were quite respectable, and even to this day they are more than enough to get light- to mid-duty work down.
At first look, you can tell this Chevy is old-fashioned, with its retro vibe, its quite outdated angles, and strong nineties’ style. You could opt for a short or long bed, as well as a varying number of seats. The chrome line that divides the headlights is a trademark of this model, displaying the Chevy logo right in the middle of it.
The design didn’t claim to be fancy, high-end or expensive. It was a down-to-earth, practical, functional vehicle that got work done, and you could tell from the second one. The austere design and high wheels were proof of that.
Inside, it definitively lacks the technology and utilities of modern SUVs and communicates sternness and resistance. It lives up to its look because the panel is reliable and made to endure hard work, even at the expense of a more appealing design. It is for sure, before anything else, a utilitarian vehicle, and from any angle, it communicates exactly what it was made to do.
If you are looking for an affordable truck that can stand the test of rough terrain, medium load and days of work, then the Chevrolet S-10 might be a good acquisition for you. It is not made to impress; it is built to last and to serve. If this is your type of truck, then drop by the nearest second-hand dealership and get yourself some Chevy.
