The base trim features a 2.8-liter turbocharged inline-4 that produces 369 pound-feet of torque and 181 horsepower. The powertrain is governed by a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine also comes as optional in other trims.

The 4-wheel drive system is optional and the rear-wheel-drive comes as standard in all but the ZR2. The basic 4WD configuration can be used everywhere else but on dry pavement. Chevrolet’s AutoTrac system allows drivers to enjoy an automatic set-and-forget setting on all terrains.

Thanks to the raised suspensions, standard limited-slip rear differentials, and special dampers, the Z71 handles all off-road needs without fuss. The ZR2, however, offers more. It comes with the Goodyear Duratrac tires and standard front and rear locking differentials that get the truck out of any messy situation. Add onto that racing Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve dampers and you get the quickest response in any suspension movement.

The current Colorado design was initially intended for the South East Asian market. Interestingly, the model fits well in the American market along with its sibling, the Silverado.

The exterior features a side belt line that curves upwards towards the back. The taillights and rear bumpers fit exceptionally well at the rear. The Work Truck and Base trims offer the much-needed utility. The ZR2 has a few exterior adjustments such as a trimmed front bumper to give it a better look. These adjustments give it a classy and clean look that distinguishes the model well in the market.

Interior finishes vary from trim to trim. Controls are fitted high with stylish toggles offering secondary functionality. The LT has the best interior looks.

The Chevrolet Colorado offers great fuel economy and maneuverability. It also carries moderate capability for the average truck buyer. It, however, faces tough competition from the Honda Ridgeline and the Toyota Tacoma. Each brand, nevertheless, satisfies different needs in its own way.
